Paul Smith-Storey: Art on a Narrowboat – Paul’s Art

Paul Smith-Storey
My name is Paul Amith-Storey and I sell art from our Narrowboat.
We also have a YouTube channel called Narrowboat Life Unlocked. We recently featured on the Channel 4 programme “Narrow Escapes”, and it was great fun filming.
I took a 30 year break from art to pursue a career as a magician, working in holiday parks, schools, libraries etc. During Covid, all my work stopped and during lockdown I decided to get back into my art. I downloaded courses and practised new techniques. Something I had never tried before was pastel pencils, and I found that I loved the results with this medium.
Our YouTube channel follows my adventures along with my partner Anthony and our dog Dexter. This definitely helps me to sell my art around the world and I also trade from the boat when I can.
I specialise in pet commissions and British wildlife, something I have always been passionate about. It’s always special when a customer asks you to draw a commission of a pet, especially when they are no longer with us, and the reactions I get are so overwhelming at times.
I have been experimenting with water colours lately and would love to use different mediums to produce my art.
